SENATOR DIKET PLANG’S ACHIEVEMENTS AND AN UNREPORTED PERFORMANCE OF THE SENATOR BY HIS MEDIA AIDES.
By Plateau Reporters
Against social media poor rating hype achievements of Diket Plang, the Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from some quarters, the legislator accorded excellent performance to himself, and highlighted projects achieved within his three years sojourn in the Red Chamber while hosting journalists in his Jos residence on Tuesday 13th January, 2026.
Plang attributed the social media poor rating meted to him as handiwork of some aspirants of the seat he occupies, saying is political cowardice to embark on calumny of disparaging someone to secure advantage.
Being a first timer in the Senate, according to him, he proved his legislative and representative capacity through excellent performance which is obvious and indisputable in virtually all sectors of his jurisdiction and the economy.
He enunciated his achievements in lawmaking which is the first and foremost essence of being in the Senate, asserting that he sponsored bills for: the establishment of Federal University of Mining and Geosciences Jos; dualization of the abandoned Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Road Network; the establishment of Federal Medical Eye Center, Pushit-Mangu; the establishment of Federal Medical Centre Kanke; the establishment of at least one federal Technical and vocational college in every state and FCT; for the Constitution (Alteration); the establishment of National Institute of Irrigation; the establishment of National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Jos, Plateau State.

In terms of employment, Plang said he secured pensionable Jos to over 120 constituents. The employment cuts across various Ministries, Parastatals, agencies, commissions, military, paramilitary etc. The comprehensive list of the beneficiaries shall be published in due time and their place of work.
The Senator added that he made a promise and has been executing it that whenever he is in his Constituency and on transit, he will attend all weddings he sees by the road whether invited or uninvited and to give his support no matter how little. And that he has been contributing a lot financially to communities, organisations and individuals. Responding, Prince Sekat who recently criticizes the Senator for under performance said,he recanted his criticism after seeing the reel out achievements of the Senator and blame his media aides including the Senator himself for employing the services of people who cannot Stand for him on print and social media during a moment like this, Prince Sekat thank the Senator for giving his son a permanent and pensionable Job and as Oliver Twist,he said we will continue to ask for more for our people.
Born into humble circumstances, he learned early that nothing would be handed to him. Through resilience, discipline and unyielding belief in possibility, he transformed hardship into opportunity.
He grew up with little more than determination and a dream, navigating life where opportunities were scarce and survival required grit.
Against repeated setbacks, he chose perseverance over surrender- turning failure into lessons and yardwork into opportunity.
Today, he stands as a respected business mogul, building enterprises that create jobs, inspire innovation and redefine success.
His journey is a reminder that greatness is not defined by where you start, but by the courage you keep going.
His success story tells a simple truth: with vision and perseverance, even the most modest beginnings can lead to extraordinary heights.
Innocently I have asked before now, where was Amos Goyol Gombi before he became the representative of the Kanke Constituency?
He was in far away Zaria working as Manager with the Sunseed Company engaged in producing oil /feeds.
He knew his roots and way well enough; and the ever smiling Seri-born politician took the lessons in great measures to clinch the ticket to serve.
He arrived the scene like a thunderbolt, taking on all who wanted to contest to represent the constituency in the House, without letting them breath.
He came out victorious! With a closer introspection, one would discover that he is one of the coolest operators around, politically speaking.
He brings on the table skills that are able to disarm any doubting Thomases to his side, that goes with a conviction.
Perhaps, for many who do not know, the subject was the member who represented Kanke Constituency in the House of Assembly from 2007-2011.
Political pundits cannot forget in a hurry one critical intervention he put up not to alter the leadership of the Assembly in his favour in 2009.
In February 2009, the often slippery political table turned against Rt Hon Emmanuel Lokji Go’ar as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Many may not know, Hon Amos Goyol Gombi was approached to replace him. Without thinking twice, he would not hear anything about it; he turned down the offer, insisting it should be given to someone else if Go’ar had to be replaced.
No matter how plum the job was, he was willing to be just a member of the Assembly.
While betrayal has since become commonplace in politics, he did not want it mention close to him. You may be disappointed as his answers for certain situations may not favour you.
Politics for Amos Goyol Gombi is service that should be freely given by any public officer. Anything other than that is self serving, and must not be contemplated.
While in the House, he was Committee Chairman on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. His contributions on the floor of the House cannot be underestimated; as they were massively delivered.
Some may have forgotten his stint in the House so quickly, but his role as deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party is a reference point in his political career.
Not stopping there, he went a notch higher where he acted as state chairman of the same party. During his tenure, he produced, Senator Jeremiah Timbut Useni as gubernatorial candidate for the party in 2019.
Here in Nigeria, politicians change camps randomly. For him, his welcome being a PDP member has come to an end, that is why recently he changed camp to the APC.
The move has elicited different reactions from several camps. Whatever reasons are advanced by him or any other person, a close political ally of his puts it at the doors of internal wrangling and discontent.
Whatever that is, shifting allegiance to his new platform seems to settle his spirits for greater contributions to the state and nationally.
That is my mind speaking; he certainly has his reasons. They may be better kept close to the chest.
Progress for the man who has been rightly referred to as Gombibi; is to be selfless, while soliciting for a broad based support for development from all.
To be fair to Amos Gombi, the doors are opened for him to play more roles if given in shaping the political landscape of the state, and indeed Nigeria.
Welcome to the world of the politics of Gombibi! My prayer for you: May your voice remain valid for the right reasons.
In what appears to be Tom and Jerry kind of Play,Two House of Assembly members representing Kantana, Yusuf Gagdi’s constituency and Dengi Constituency are set to decamp from APC to PDP.
It may interest you to know that the two Houses of Assembly are trusted allies of Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representative and Chairman, House Committee on Navy.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and the PDP in Plateau State will receive a boost in the coming days with the defection of the two House members, the members are Hon Bala Noma and Hon Karl Max who were both sponsors by Gagdi in 2019 and 2023.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is facing a crisis as thousands of its officers and men have yet to receive their February salaries. According to a report revealed to Plateau Reporters, the affected officers are struggling to make ends meet, with their families bearing the brunt of the delayed payments.
The salary delay has affected officers banking with Keystone, Access, Fidelity, Eco, and First Bank. The NSCDC is urging the federal government to intervene and resolve the issue promptly, citing the hardships faced by their personnel and families.
This development highlights the challenges faced by security agencies in Nigeria, where personnel often struggle with delayed payments and inadequate welfare. The NSCDC plays a critical role in maintaining national security, and it is essential that their personnel are adequately compensated and motivated to carry out their duties effectively.
